Overview

A snapshot safari that captures Namibia's wild heart in under a week: the coastal thrill of Swakopmund, the ancient stillness of Twyfelfontein, and Etosha's open wildlife plains. Built for travellers who want Namibia's essence without a month to spare, planned personally by Jurgens & Kirstie, not assembled from a template.

Day by Day

The Itinerary

Private guided: your guide drives the full route in a fully equipped 4x4, so you can watch the land instead of the road.

Towering sand dunes meeting the turquoise Atlantic in a long curving shoreline at Sandwich Harbour
01Stop

Swakopmund, 2 nights

Namibia's adventure capital, where desert dunes meet the Atlantic. Dolphin cruises, a Sandwich Harbour excursion into true Skeleton Coast terrain, dune quad biking, sandboarding, sea kayaking, then fresh seafood and a very un-African German-colonial streetscape to wind down in.

Stay: Swakopmund Guesthouse, Luxury Room (breakfast included)

Granite boulders and open grassland below flat-topped Damaraland hills glowing in low sunlight
02Stop

Twyfelfontein / Damaraland, 1 night

En route: Cape Cross seal colony, the Lichen Fields, a shipwreck near Wlotskasbaken. On arrival: the UNESCO-listed Twyfelfontein rock engravings, Bushman art thousands of years old, plus Organ Pipes, Burnt Mountain, and an optional 4x4 drive into the Huab River in search of desert-adapted elephant.

Stay: Twyfelfontein Adventure Camp, Half Board

An elephant standing in the shade of a large acacia tree with layered desert mountains behind
03Stop

Etosha South, 2 nights

Via the Petrified Forest. Game drives from Andersson's Gate across Etosha's salt pans, four of the Big Five, 450+ bird species, and far fewer vehicles than most safari destinations, wildlife on its own terms, not a queue for a sighting.

Stay: Etosha Village, Half Board

Final day, drive to Windhoek for your departure flight.

The Essence

Why This Route

This is where Namibia's contrasts sit closest together: the Skeleton Coast's emptiness one day, Twyfelfontein's thousands-of-years-old rock art the next. Six days, and you've already touched two of the four things that make this country unlike anywhere else, the silence of an empty coastline, and a land old enough to hold stories in stone.

A lone gemsbok on a gravel plain before towering red Namib mountains
A full moon rising over rolling red desert hills at dusk
A black rhino standing in a shallow Etosha waterhole with its reflection
A 4x4 vehicle cresting pale coastal dunes with the Atlantic beyond
A pod of dolphins swimming through clear turquoise water
A small boat moored in turquoise water off a jetty on the Namibian coast
Sundowners laid out on a candlelit table overlooking granite boulders at sunset
Desert-adapted elephants walking a dry riverbed below rocky mountains
Spitzkoppe silhouetted against an orange sunset sky with a crescent moon

"If I was to do a Namibia safari again, I will only go with Jurgens."

Our 15-day journey through Namibia was magical, and a significant part of that was thanks to our guide, Jurgens. His enthusiasm for the country was infectious, and he shared not only its stunning landscapes but also its rich culture and history. He genuinely cared about our preferences and adapted our itinerary so we got the most out of every location. Even after 15 days together, we never grew tired of his company.

As a solo female traveller very far from home, it was wonderful to be with a knowledgeable guide that I trusted. He knows so much about his country and about being in the various landscapes — I always felt safe travelling with him. Being with Jurgens allowed me to see so much more of the country than I ever could have on my own. I couldn't have asked for a better guide!

We did a 10-day trip across Namibia with Jurgens and it was one of the most memorable experiences of our lives. I captured some dream photographs, all thanks to his expertise and immense knowledge of Namibia. He made sure we were always in the right place at the right time and showed us magical places we would never have come across self-driving.
